Remember me… (Psalms 26-28)

Written by Nina Schmidgall | September 15, 2010 | Psalms 26 - 28

After our journey through the prophets, I am so glad to be reading and studying in Psalms!  See, I am a typical girl…and I love HAPPY endings!  And I am a mom…so like people to make good choices!  So the prophets had me feeling pretty down and discouraged, reading again and again about how God’s people turned from Him.  God was like a Cubs fan, hanging in there even when let down AGAIN!

The hope for me was always in the reminder of the “remnant”, that small group of people that remained faithful to God.  Through the reading of the prophets, I prayed that I will remain true and committed to the Lord, even among a culture that disregards Him.  In Psalm 26-28, we see David long to remembered by God for His faithfulness as well.

Psalm 26:1 “Vindicate me, O Lord, for I have walked in my integrity, and I have trusted in the Lord without wavering.” 4 “I do not sit with men of falsehood, nor do I consort with hypocrites. I hate the assembly of evildoers, and I will not sit with the wicked. 11 “But as for me, I shall walk in my integrity; redeem me, and be gracious to me.”

Psalm 28:3 “Do not drag me off with the wicked.”

The good news is that there WILL be a happy ending.  We can trust that, by His grace, He will remain faithful to those that seek Him.

Psalm 28:9 “Oh, save your people and bless your heritage! Be their shepherd and carry them forever.”
