Psalm 146-150 is a great way to end our Thanksgiving Holiday. As we prepare for a season of joy and celebration it is important to remember to Praise the Lord always. It is extremely easy to get wrapped up in the madness of the “to do” list, the shopping list, the activity list and all the reminders we post all over our desk to keep track of all the things we have to achieve. But do we remember to put God on that list? I have a suggestion, instead of putting reminders for meetings all over our Google calendars and iphones (or blackberry) lets set time aside for prayer and praise.
As we finish up the book of Psalms we are told to Praise the Lord about forty times from Chapters 146-150. Isn’t that the reason for this season we are entering? Praise the Lord because he executes justice for the oppressed (146:7), Praise the Lord because he sets the prisoners free; he opens the eyes of the blind, he loves the righteous (146:8). Praise the Lord because he watches over the Sojourners, he upholds the widow and the faithless (146:9). We must Praise the Lord because he heals the brokenhearted, he determines the number of stars, he gives to all of them a name (147:3-4).
We all Praise God in uniquely. I believe that serving others is the way I Praise and thank God for all his blessings and mercies he has given me. This Holiday season I dare all of us to find a way to Praise God in our own special and unique way.
Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance, praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Psalm 150:3-6
