According to Jewish tradition, the Book of Ecclesiastes was written by King Solomon late in his reign over Israel around 935 B.C.  We are only given a general description of the author as, “King David’s son, who ruled in Jerusalem.”  (Ecclesiastes 1:1)  Some scholars believe that the term, “King David’s son” could refer to any of his descendants, not simply his sons.  While the “Teacher” never identifies himself as Solomon, …
